Climate Change is Real

In the midst of an ongoing pandemic it's hard to think about climate change but our influence on the climate is clear and recent  emissions of greenhouse gases are the highest in recorded history. Climate change is already having widespread impacts on the environment and society. We all have a role to play in reducing the impacts of climate change, and at all levels of society there are actions we can take.

Canada is a signatory to the Paris Climate Agreement to keep warming below 1.5C, and which also recognizes the role of all sectors of society in responding to climate change. Consequently  Canadian governments are crafting climate change plans at the federal, provincial, regional and muncipal Levels

Since 2010 Caledon has been developing a Community Climate Change Action Plan, Resilient Caledon, which will be published in December 2020. In 2019 the town began an update of the plan which involved the recruiting of a Community Climate Change Task Force (CCC-TF). In January 2020 members of the Task Force held DIY Community Climate Workshops. There was interest expressed at these workshops, including one held at Palgrave, to continue community-based action on Climate Change resilience building.

In 2021, ORIAS and Palgrave Rotary Club, in partnership with ecoCaledon, delivered the 'Resilient Palgrave' Workshops Series. You can read the final report here.

In 2022 ORIAS will Partner with the Village of Inglewood Association to deliver the 'Resilient inglewood' Workshop Series

Both projects are funded by the Town of Caledon Green Fund
